Another Reason to Stand for Liberty

Let’s be clear: the enemy of democracy and liberalism continues to strike, this time in Pakistan.

They belong to many parties and many groups, but they continue to hit at the core of what makes liberty so appealing to so many people around the world: individual’s standing up for individual rights. Totalitarians and theocrats will continue to attack those who don’t toe the line, and don’t submit to control. Benazir Bhutto may be corrupt, and she may very well not be liberal whatsoever, but the simple fact that she was attacked for speaking as a women says just about everything you need to know about those who were responsible for these attacks.

London, New York, Karachi…it is an attack on the same basic principle liberal’s the world over believe in, and is something worth fighting. I only hope my fellow liberals who have argued that the world we presently live within is GW’s fault, awaken to the reality we all face.

This is simply another example of why we must confront the force before us, and not cower before it. Liberty is worth standing up for.

Lukashenko: "Jews, Bring your Money!"

A Belarus…keeping the old Soviet ways alive in more ways than you can wag a finger at! President Alexander Lukashenko recently made some anti-Semitic remarks, playing up the nationalist nonsense that has kept his government in control.

From the Jerusalem Post
Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Thursday slammed disparaging comments about Jews made last week by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko.

Lukashenko, in a nationally broadcast radio press conference, discussed the situation in the rural town of Bobruisk.

"Well, obviously, it is a Jewish town," he said. "The Jews do not care for the place they live in; look at Israel, I have been there."
Lukashenko said the town was reorganized after the Jews left, and called for Jews "with money" to return there.

Livni condemned the comments, saying, "The role of leadership is to fight anti-Semitism wherever it raises its ugly head, all over the world, not to encourage it. Anti-Semitism is primarily an indicator of the society in which it appears and of its leaders."

A bit more striking however, is this:
“Lukashenko's offensive comments, which Israeli officials say have since been removed from any public record, caught ministry officials by surprise.”

Let's Stay Together

If there is a sexier song, I have not heard it. That suit isn’t half bad either.

Beach Impeach Episode 4 - Return of the Truthers

Beach Impeach seems to have become a mainstay amongst the protest crowd in the Bay Area, and the most recent event brought out some “celebrity” types from the hard-left: Cynthia McKinney and Cindy Sheehan!

I almost feel bad for a lot of these folks. Who will they have to belittle once Bush is gone? Sure, they can start making fun of the next guy (or gal) to take office, but the disgust for Bush has been a golden age for the simplified-left.

“The Truthers” will sadly stay around as long oxygen deprived brains exist.
